Have this company’s directors verified their identity?
Every director and person with significant control of a UK company must verify their identity with Companies House; the 12-month transition for existing ones ends on 17 November 2026. Type a company number to see what the register shows for each of them.

Adding a company as a client?
Stratum fills the client in from Companies House, with each director’s identity verification as the register shows it, and reminds you two weeks before the next one is due. Then it checks the company and its people against the sanctions and PEP lists and watches them every morning.
Who has to verify their identity with Companies House?
Since 18 November 2025, every new director and person with significant control (PSC) verifies before they are appointed or registered. Existing directors confirm they have verified when the company files its next confirmation statement, during a 12-month transition; existing PSCs verify within 12 months, by a date Companies House sets for them.
When does the transition end?
Twelve months after identity verification became mandatory on 18 November 2025, so by 17 November 2026 every existing director and PSC should have verified. Until then a director with no date on the register may simply be waiting for the company’s next confirmation statement.
What happens if a director has not verified?
Once the duty applies to them, acting as a director without being verified is an offence. For an existing director the duty is tied to the company’s next confirmation statement, which is when they confirm their verification.
What does this check show?
For each current director and individual PSC: the date their identity was verified (and through which authorised agent), the date the company confirmed it, or the date it is due, as Companies House publishes them. It never says anyone is in breach: a missing date can mean a filing is still to come.
Is it free?
Every Stratum account gets 5 free lookups, shared by the firm and across the tools, to see how it works. You need an account to run one: it takes a minute, and your question is kept while you make it. A company number Companies House doesn’t know isn’t counted. After that, you add the company as a client in your register, from your plan, and it reminds you when a director’s verification is due.
